Under certain circumstances, a physician the US on a J-1 visa can obtain a waiver allowing him or her to stay in the U.S. after completing residency training.
USCIS updated its count of FY 2011 cap-subject H-1B petitions and advanced degree cap-exempt petitions receipted. As of 06/25/10, approximately 23,500 H-1B cap-subject petitions were receipted. USCIS has receipted 10,000 H-1B petitions for aliens with advanced degrees.

USCIS announced that it has revised the Employment Authorization Document (EAD), or Form I-766, to incorporate the addition of a machine-readable zone on the back of the card. Starting 5/11/2010, USCIS began issuing the revised EAD cards.
