National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform Releases Deficit Reduction Proposal

The National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform and its co-chairs’ statements regarding the Deficit Reduction Proposal were released to the press last week.  The Deficit Reduction Proposal includes the potential elimination of the Delta Regional Authority and Appalachian Regional Commission, each of which sponsor J-1 waiver physicians for a 3-year service requirement.

Fortunately, the proposals circulated by the Commission’s co-chairs do not appear to present an immediate threat of being adopted into law in the lame duck session and even, perhaps, in the upcoming session of Congress. Instead, the proposals were statements of potential ideas and are not representative of the opinions of the whole Commission.  For more information about the Commission, click here.
