Under certain circumstances, a physician the US on a J-1 visa can obtain a waiver allowing him or her to stay in the U.S. after completing residency training.
As of December 16, 2011, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment had received 2 (two) J-1 waiver applications. They will be accepting applications through September 30, 2012 in order to fill the remaining 28 slots.
