Under certain circumstances, a physician the US on a J-1 visa can obtain a waiver allowing him or her to stay in the U.S. after completing residency training.
The United States Citizenship and Immigration Service has updated its count of FY2013 cap-subject H-1B petitions and advanced degree cap-exempt petitions. As of May 5, 2012, approximately 32,500 H-1B cap-subject petitions were receipted (32,500 remain). Additionally, USCIS has receipted 13,700 H-1B petitions for aliens with advanced degrees (6,300 remain).
