LA Times: White House Pursues Plan to Expand Immigrant Rights

The Los Angeles Times reports that White House officials are laying the groundwork for a large-scale expansion of immigrant rights that would come by executive action, in order to shield mass deportations of immigrants living in the country illegally. Roughly 5 million of an estimated 11 million people who entered the country illegally or overstayed their visas could be protected by such measures as allowing immigrants who are parents of U.S. citizens to apply for temporary legal status.
