New York Times: Texas Lawmakers To Offer Border Bill

The New York Times reports that Texas Senator John Cornyn (R) and Representative Henry Cuellar (D) plan to introduce a bipartisan bill on July 15th meant to combat the crisis at the nation’s southern border by making it easier to send migrant children from Central America back to their home countries. The legislation would amend a 2008 law meant to stop sex trafficking by granting migrant children extra legal protections when they cross the border, protections that Obama has said now make it harder to return the children.
