			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>On 12/12/11, the <a href="http://www.supremecourt.gov/Default.aspx" target="_blank">Supreme Court</a> granted certiorari to determine the constitutionality of Arizona&#8217;s immigration law, SB 1070. Justice Kagan, who was solicitor general when the law was challenged in the lower courts, did not take part in the decision to hear the case.</p>
<p>There is potential for similar legislation in <a href="http://www.ncgov.com/" target="_blank">North Carolina</a> due to the formation of the <a href="http://www.ncleg.net/gascripts/Committees/Committees.asp?sAction=ViewCommittee&amp;sActionDetails=House%20Select_143" target="_blank">State committee</a> in the NC legislature.</p>
